ASB Scheme's Balanced

ASB Balanced holds $4.7 billion in member savings, making it one of the largest balanced funds in the KiwiSaver market, with a fee of 0.65 percent and a 57-43 split between growth and income assets.

The fund divides its equity allocation between international shares at 40 percent and Australasian shares at 14 percent. Among its top holdings, Nvidia leads at 2.24 percent, followed by Apple and Microsoft, while Fisher & Paykel Healthcare and Auckland International Airport feature as the standout domestic equity positions. The defensive side leans on New Zealand government bonds, with four separate issues among the top ten holdings, including an inflation-indexed bond. Over one year the fund returned 10.9 percent, placing 3rd in its category. Over three years it delivered 12.6 percent annualised, ranking 5th, and over five years it returned 6.3 percent per year, sitting 6th.

The allocation reflects a middle-ground approach: enough growth exposure to capture equity returns, enough fixed income to cushion volatility. The concentration in large US technology names and New Zealand infrastructure stocks suggests a tilt toward established, liquid positions rather than aggressive sector bets.
