Koura Rest of World Equities

A single ETF holds virtually all of this fund's $54 million in assets: the iShares ESG Advanced MSCI EAFE, which tracks developed markets outside North America with an ESG tilt. That wrapper-on-a-wrapper structure means members are paying two layers of fees. Koura charges 0.51 percent in management fees, plus 0.12 percent in other costs and a 0.1 percent performance fee, then iShares takes its cut inside the ETF. The result is a fund that sits mid-pack on cost within the international share category, but the simplicity comes at a price.

Performance has been respectable but not exceptional. The fund returned 14.8 percent over the year to March 2025, placing it 16th in its category, and 16.7 percent annualised over three years, ranking 15th. The five-year figure of 10.1 percent a year lifts it to 9th, suggesting steadier compounding over time. The EAFE index excludes the US and Canada entirely, so this fund leans heavily into Europe, Japan and the UK. That geographic bet has delivered middling returns in a period when US tech dominated global equity markets.

The ESG overlay applies negative screens and tilts toward higher-rated issuers, but the fund structure offers little transparency below the ETF level. Members hold a single line item, not a portfolio of underlying companies.
